Signature Programs for Elementary (Grades K-5)

The Boys and Girls Club of Metro Queens provides site-based after-school services for students in grades K-8. At partnering schools, our program focuses on our impact model, our structured, daily rotation consisting of academic reinforcement, physical fitness, and social recreation, and enrichment opportunities – from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Power Hour (Homework Support)

For one hour each day, Monday through Friday, Club sites provide dedicated time for homework completion and support. By providing the time, space, and support, Club staff ensure that our members are ready for school the following day and demonstrate to youth their dedication to academic achievement.

STEM Enrichment

Each Club provides members with hands-on, creative STEM programming to engage youth and spark an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. Our STEM programs are either created in-house by BGCMQ staff or run in partnership with STEM-focused organizations.

Literacy

Our Literacy programming is pivotal in fostering growth by equipping young people with the essential skills to communicate effectively, think critically, and access information in an increasingly complex world. By enhancing reading, writing, and comprehension abilities, our literacy programming paves the way for lifelong learning, improved employment opportunities, and enhanced civic engagement.

Metro Queens Pipeline

Clubs are working to support members transitioning from elementary to middle school and middle to high school. Supporting these two critical transitions can set youth on a path to success in a new environment.

We host city-wide middle and high school fairs to expose youth and families to alternative options. Clubs also provide a “Middle School Prep” Program before youth members enter 6th grade to prepare them for the year ahead.
